CoTE Application for Non-SAIPA Members
You can apply for the designation of Professional Tax Technician (SA), Professional Tax Practitioner (SA) or Professional Tax Specialist (SA).
Qualification requirements for non-SAIPA Members
Professional Tax Technician (SA)
Do you hold a National Diploma with Taxation as a major, Accounting 2 and have been working in a tax environment for at least 18 months, which can be verified?
If yes, you can apply for the SAIPA designation “Professional Tax Technician (SA)”.

Professional Tax Practitioner (SA)
Do you hold a BCom degree with taxation as a major, Accounting 2 and have been working in a tax environment for at least three years, which can be verified?
If yes, you can apply for the designation “Professional Tax Practitioner (SA)”.

Professional Tax Specialist (SA)
Do you hold a post graduate qualification in Taxation (e.g. Honours in Tax; N Dip.Tax and higher) and have at least three years of verifiable experience within a tax environment?
If yes, you can apply for a designation “Professional Tax Specialist (SA) ”.

Application for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
What if you do not have a university degree or diploma?
If you do not hold any formal qualification, but are in possession of a Matric and have been working within a tax environment for at least 6 years, you can apply for the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL FEES R1 068.00
Our SAIPA RPL committee will assess your Portfolio of Evidence (POE) and decide on the professional designation that you can be accredited for.However, you will still be expected to write the Tax Professional Evaluation (TPE) examination.

How to register
Provisional Acceptance STEP BY STEP Process:
- Complete the CoTE Online application form and include your SARS tax practitioner number on the form.
- Provide certified copies of all your qualifications,pay the CoTE a non-refundable administration fee of R1043.00(incl. Vat), using your ID number as a reference.
- Provide proof of payment of the administrative fee.
- Provide your Curriculum Vitae,detailing your qualifications, work experience, confirmation of employment and where your experience was obtained.
- Provide a letter from your current employer confirming your employment.
- If you are self employed: Provide an affidavit and two letters (on company letter heads) from your longest standing clients, confirming the services you have rendered to them.
- Provide a certified copy of your Tax Clearance Certificate that is not older than three months.
- Provide a certified copy of your ID or Passport.
- Scan and email all the above required documentation to the SAIPA CoTE Contact Person: Christina Tshegameno

You will receive an email notification from the SAIPA CoTE within 72 hours of receipt of your application forms confirming or declining your Provisional Acceptance and the details of the Tax Professional Examinations and membership fees.
How much is the affiliate membership fee?
SAIPA CoTE members pay an Annual Affiliate Membership fee of R3,267.00 (incl. Vat).
