Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
For those wishing to hold the Professional Accountant (SA) designation, who do not fall into the recently-graduated from a tertiary institution category, you may follow an RPL process for applying for membership.
These entrance requirements include six years’ verifiable practical experience in a finance-related environment. The RPL process evaluates your practical experience and portfolio of evidence in terms of the competency framework, as well as the practical experiences as per the logbook.
Maximum of 18 months of RPL may be granted irrespective of how many years of experience the candidate has acquired. The RPL months to be granted will be determined by competencies and not by a number of years.
If you have gained experience prior to entering into the learnership, then you may apply for RPL – also strictly within 6 months from date reflected on the Trainee confirmation letter. Failure to adhere to this period will lead to the RPL application not being considered
Payment of R1136,89 will be required for the RPL application.
