I matriculated from Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen in 1988, and in 1989 I started my Articles at BDO Spencer Steward in Germiston and studied my BCompt part time through UNISA. When BDO Spencer Steward Germiston merged with a Johannesburg firm, I moved on to complete my articles at TJ Botha and Company in Alberton. I got my degree in 1994 and joined the then CFA (Now SAIPA™) as a practicing member in 1995. I continued working at TJ Botha and Company, after my Articles were completed until May of 1996, when I had my daughter Taryn.
In January of 1997 I taught labour law and taxation part time at Kempton Technical College, for a semester, whilst running my own accounting practice.
In June 1999 I was employed by the CFA as a Professional Development Consultant and did all the Professional evaluation visits in KZN, Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga of practising CFA members. During this time, I also converted the CFA Working Paper File into soft copy. I also did a presentation on working papers to a division of DENEL as well as in the Western Cape at a members’ forum. In July 2000 I left CFA as my practice was getting busier and I also had my son Ross.
In 2005 I finished my Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Taxation from UNISA, this was an 18- month Post graduate certificate which I studied part time whilst running my own Accounting practice.
From 2000 to mid-2006 I ran my own Accounting practice, with numerous clients from diverse fields. In June 2006 I then became a shareholder and Financial Director of one of my bigger clients, at Banking Machine Services (Pty)Ltd. In May 2013, the company was bought by G4S buying all my shares. I re-started my Accounting practice in 2013 which I have been running from the beautiful South Coast of KZN since.
