The South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Pitso Zwane as the Vice Chairperson of the SAIPA Board.
Mr Zwane succeeds Ms Lynne Smit, whose leadership and contribution as Vice Chairperson have played an important role in supporting the Board’s governance and strategic oversight. SAIPA extends its sincere appreciation to Ms Smit for her dedicated service, leadership and commitment to the Institute.
A highly accomplished Professional Accountant (SA), Mr Zwane brings extensive public sector experience across all three spheres of government. He currently serves as a Senior Economist at the National Treasury, where he has built significant expertise in budget preparation and implementation, financial management reforms, governance, internal audit and controls, stakeholder management, conflict management and institutional capacity building. His ability to identify synergies between the public sector, private sector and commerce provides a valuable perspective in supporting the Board’s strategic oversight.
Mr Zwane holds a BCompt, postgraduate qualifications in Accounting in Public Practice and Investment Planning, an Advanced Certificate in Fraud Examination, and National Certificates in Public Administration, Municipal Finance, and Entry into Senior Management from the National School of Government. He is a Professional Accountant (SA), Independent Reviewer (SA), Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE) and Member of the Institute of Directors South Africa (M.Inst.D). He is also a member of SAIPA, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA).
Throughout his tenure on the Board, Mr Zwane has actively participated in strategic planning and policy development, contributing to sound governance and effective decision-making. His experience across government and his collaborative approach continue to strengthen the Board as it steers the Institute towards achieving its strategic objectives.
As Vice Chairperson, Mr Zwane will support the Chairperson and the Board in providing strategic leadership as SAIPA continues to strengthen governance, drive innovation and create greater value for members and the profession.
