CONGRATULATIONS TO AND EXPECTATIONS OF THE 6TH ADMINISTRATION
By Shahied Daniels, Chief Executive, The South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA).
The South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) wishes to acknowledge all political parties on their achievements in the recent sixth national election since the end of the apartheid era. We commend the contributions all parties have made towards ensuring that South Africa could celebrate yet another free and fair election, which underscored our commitment to a democratic future.
We also wish to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the ANC for its sixth successive victory; a victory that has ensured that it continues to be the largest party in parliament, conferring upon it the daunting responsibility to lay a firm foundation for South Africa’s future success. The opposition parties will undoubtedly play a meaningful role in ensuring that the ANC, as ruling party, will live up to the promises enshrined in its election manifesto.
Across the hierarchy of needs, the electorate is destined to strongly focus on the eradication of all forms of corruption that have severely crippled the South African economy, nearly eradicating economic growth and severely inhibiting efforts to deal with the ever-deepening wealth divide and the inequalities with regard to land, housing, basic services, personal safety and job opportunities.
SAIPA wishes to congratulate President Cyril Ramaphosa in appointing his new cabinet and trusts that there will be greater coherence, enhanced efficiency and ethical conscience in leading government and the people of South Africa to greater prosperity. We pray that cabinet is committed, responsible and capable with the expected integrity in serving society and business.
SAIPA, as one of South Africa’s foremost Professional Accounting bodies, stands ready to render whatever support it can to contribute towards achieving the goals and objectives to which the 6th Administration aspire. Our members are steadfast in their belief that we are on the cusp of an increasingly bright future under the principled leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa and his new cabinet.
With the focus being on laying the groundwork for flourishing and sustainable economic growth, we trust that the cabinet will now rapidly move towards ensuring an unshackled SMME sector that is empowered to play an unfettered part in assisting South Africa to realize its full potential in this regard. To this end, SAIPA will from time to time be making submissions and contributions.
