Invitation to submit completed thesis / dissertation in Accounting and / or Taxation

The SAIPA Accounting / Taxation Thesis Competition 2018 is aimed at promoting good research in Accounting and Taxation, and is open to all universities in South Africa.

Entries are now open for the 2018 competition for universities to enter candidates whose 2017/2018 thesis/dissertations have been selected through the adjudication process as the “best” in their degree level, in fulfilment of a post graduate degree in Commerce, Accounting or Taxation.

Entry requirements:

  • The candidates should have successfully completed their relevant degree, however it is not a requirement that they should have graduated;
  • The thesis/dissertation should be in English;
  • Entries for the Honours and the Masters may only be submitted on behalf of the candidate by the university; and
  • The entry for Doctoral thesis can either be directly submitted by the candidates themselves or by their university.

SAIPA reserves the right to verify with the university the eligibility of the candidate.

All thesis/dissertation that have been submitted for the competition will be marked by a panel of experts in line with an agreed rubric. Each paper will be marked by at least two independent markers and further independently moderated.

The submitted thesis/dissertation will only be used for this competition and will not be published for any reason.

There will be one winner in each of the degree levels for Accounting and Taxation and winners will be recognised at the SAIPA Top Achievers Awards Ceremony in October 2018.
