Once-off Fee - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: How much will the once-off fee cost me?
A:  The once-off fee will cost R 2850.00 (incl. VAT) and is available exclusively to SAIPA members, Associates and Trainees.

Q2: What do I get for this?
A: There are a number of benefits to this scheme, some of them are:
  • You can attend CPD’s of your choice
  • Makes budgeting for yourself and staff easy
  • Online viewing/download of recorded seminars (on request)
  • Access to our online store to purchase further or additional material
  • Further benefits will be communicated as they come into effect – much more is in store!

Q3: Do I have to book each time I wish to attend a seminar?
A: Yes, the same online procedure will apply except that you will have to furnish us with your UniqueReference which we will issue to you, once you’ve taken up the offer. There will be a special place to fill this in on the form when you book online, but you do not pay for each seminar as before.

At the venue, please produce your ID card showing your UniqueReference (which we will issue and send to you via post when you take up the offer) and you will be admitted in the seminar.

Q4: How do I book for the CPD?
A: On the CPD Schedule you will notice a “Click here to book” link which will take you to the online booking form. Please complete this form, taking special care to fill in your email address and membership number correctly – you will then receive a confirmation email immediately and a profoma invoice within one business day.

Q5: How do the administrators at the venue identify the once-off fee affiliates as opposed to the ‘pay-as-you-go’ attendees?
A: Each subscriber to the once-off fee scheme will be issued with a photo ID card which will have to be produced at the registration table. If the subscriber does not produce this card (no other form of identification is acceptable) then access to the seminar will be refused. Similarly, in the event that the system is abused it may result in the benefit being forfeited and disciplinary action taken against such an offender.

Q6: If I do not take up the once-off fee can I attend the seminars?
A: Yes, certainly! We have revised our pricing structure based on your relationship with SAIPA (eg. SAIPA member, non-member or Trainee) – please refer to the SAIPA website for more information.

Q7: If I am not a SAIPA member can I take the once-off offer?
A: Unfortunately, not. ATC Principals are specifically excluded from the definition of “member” as some of our Principals are members of other bodies but have SAIPA Trainees.

Q8: If I am a SAIPA Trainee can I take up the offer?
A: Yes, but the same fee of R2 580 (incl.) is payable.

Q9: Why is SAIPA doing this?
A: Education is the key to success – aside from CPD being a requirement of IFAC. It is compulsory for SAIPA members to attend at least a Tax and IFRS seminar once a year. This however, is not enough to either comply or possess sufficient knowledge to execute one’s duties well.
Distance and time away from the office (and the accompanying cost) are often cited as prohibitive factors when attending a seminar. With the introduction of our digital offering geographical boundaries are all but removed.

Q10: Can I have the invoice made out in my company name?
A: Yes, you can.  Your company (viz. employer) can “register” with us and we will invoice them directly for any seminars you attend (but the once-off fee only applies to individual members, not groups).  In this event, the individual remains liable for payment and is responsible for following up with their company/employer.
If a member would like the invoice made out in the name of a company, then we require these details to be indicated on the booking form before we issue a tax invoice. Once a tax invoice has been issued, we regret that we cannot alter any details on it.

Q11: I reside very far from the main centres where CPD’s are held, will this change and CPDs be held closer to me?
A: New centres will only be considered for the Tax update and the IFRS/IFRS for SME’s if:
  • there are at least 30 members that have taken the once-off fee and
  • there are facilities that are conducive to holding seminars in the area, and
  • are easily accessible.
